@agriculture5639: Are you using crushed eggshells as fertilizer? You might be making a common mistake. In this video, I’ll show you how to transform eggshell calcium into a form your plants can actually absorb using just vinegar. It’s simple, effective, and could make a big difference in your garden. Watch until the end to learn how to apply it safely and avoid damaging your plants. Yup. I make a homemade ferlitizer tea with pulverized eggshell soaked in water and vinegar for a few days and banana peels. I then mix that with a alalfa tea. A ladle of that on all my plants every two weeks. Best growth I’ve ever had. I also have fewer pests, especially aphids. I’m not sure as to why, may something about how the commercial, even organic fertilizers, make the plant taste? Maybe there’s some kind of nature defense chemical in one of those three items?

Just put the shells they break down slowly over time and release the calcium as your plant needs and not all at once

I also believe you can crush with mortar, but if you use a blender becomes fine dust. And that you can apply to the soil - the calcium is there if plants need it. It will slowly dissolve. Beware of acid on the vinegar, as some plants can burn.

Soil acidity can also do this with no effort and longer lasting calcium supplementation.

If eggshells are calcium carbonate then can they be used instead of tums?

dry shells in oven, blend them. Will compost in soil over time and I don't have to use vinegar. But you can also neutralize the acid with baking soda anyway

Umm, yeah putting eggshells works just fine. I grew up with my mom having a garden every year, the moment she learned about egg shells and putting them around the tomatoes plants all the easy bruises went away. This video is 🧢, the shell bits breakdown over time.
