Bro I’m dead💀😭 (biologically speaking I am, in fact, alive. However, to emphasize how hilarious I found this, I made a hyperbolic statement saying that I was dead b ecause it implies that I found this video so funny I ceased to live. However, I am indeed alive and well so there is no need for you all to worry. I was simply employing the tactics c of figurative language in order to better and more effectively communicate my message. Additionally, using slang and sayings commonly employed by the youth has made my message more understandable and reachable by the younger generation, many of whom are in this chat. For example, I could have said "that video was a real knee slapper". This would have made sense to some of the older people in this chat as knee slapping used to be a sign of hilarity. However, in this digital age in which we now live, knee slapping is not as common and many of today's youth may not understand the reference. I therefore made my message more understandable to younger people through my use of simple, easily understood slang. I hope this clears everything up, and I appreciate any concern that I was actually dead. I can assure you I am alive and well.)

Dignity Act of 2023 (H.R. 3599) On May 23, 2023, the Dignity Act of 2023 (H.R. 3599) was introduced in the House by Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL) and referred to multiple standing committees, including Judiciary, Homeland Security, Ways and Means, Agriculture, Transportation and Infrastructure, the Budget, Education and the Workforce, Foreign Affairs, Oversight and Accountability, Intelligence (Permanent Select), Financial Services, and Armed Services. • May 23, 2023: The bill was specifically referred to the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Border Security and Enforcement. • December 17, 2024: The only subsequent action was its referral to the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Social Security, with no hearings or further movement recorded. • Expiration: The bill remained inactive and expired at the end of the 118th Congress (January 3, 2025) without advancing to hearings or a vote. As a result, the Dignity Act of 2023 stalled in the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Social Security and did not progress further. Dignity Act of 2025 (H.R. 4393) On July 15, 2025, the Dignity was reintroduced by Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL), with Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-TX) as a lead co-sponsor, alongside over 20 bipartisan co-sponsors. This is the Dignity Act of 2025 (H.R. 4393). The bill was referred upon introduction to several standing committees, including: • Judiciary • Homeland Security • Ways and Means • Education and the Workforce • Additional committees (e.g., Agriculture, Transportation and Infrastructure, the Budget, Foreign Affairs, Oversight and Accountability, Intelligence, Financial Services, and Armed Services) may also be included, as with H.R. 3599, pending confirmation. • Subcommittee Assignments: As of July 20, 2025, no specific subcommittee assignments have been published. These are typically determined shortly after referral and listed in the House Clerk’s referral notices or on committee websites (e.g., judiciary.house.gov, homelandsecurity.house.gov). Next Steps 1. Subcommittee Assignment: The House Clerk’s Office and committee chairs will assign H.R. 4393 to specific subcommittees (e.g., Judiciary’s Subcommittee on Immigration and Citizenship). Details will be published in the Congressional Record or on committee websites. 2. Subcommittee Action: Subcommittee chairs will decide whether to schedule hearings or markups. Without these, the bill risks stalling, as occurred with H.R. 3599. 3. Full Committee Vote: If reported favorably by subcommittees, the bill advances to a full committee vote. If approved, it proceeds to the House floor for debate and a vote. 4. House Passage to Senate: If passed by the House, the bill moves to the Senate for committee review, hearings, and a floor vote. 5. Conference and Presidential Action: If the House and Senate pass different versions, a conference committee reconciles them. The final bill requires presidential approval to become law, unless vetoed (subject to a potential veto override). #DignityAct #ImmigrationReform #HR4393 #BipartisanLegislation #BorderSecurity #HouseJudiciary #HomelandSecurity #Congress2025 #ImmigrationPolicy #USPolitics #akpokulaw
