yea the pitcher knew where the play was and should have ducked but the casual walk to check on her is crazy

Just a question but did the umpire call foul ball? It seems like the pitcher saw the call and bc of that didn’t move. Should she have.. yes… but it also seems like the catcher took the opportunity to smoke her. You can see the other ump call it as well

Catcher has told that pitcher to duck in these situations SO MANY TIMES & this was her way of escalating the communication. Sometimes a little pain is the best teacher in sports.

I think the pitcher thought the catcher was going to make a play at first base. She probably had a mental lapse and forgot about the runner at first for a play at second. There's no leadoff in softball, so definitely correct play for catcher.
