Like its western counterpart, the Catacomb culture, Poltavka was genetically identical to Yamnaya. According to the anthropologist Alexander Khokhlov, this man possessed a set of traits that made him morphologically Armenoid-like—such as a flattened occiput, broad cranial width, and a sharply pronounced profile. His skull was very large, with a cranial length of 194 mm, a cranial breadth of 151 mm, a medium-to-large facial breadth of 137 mm, a medium-to-large jaw width of 108 mm (given measurements are without soft tissue), and a cranial capacity of 1,567 cm³.
