@cbsnews: A Florida wildlife officer shows how to safely capture a Burmese python — an invasive species that’s having devastating effects on native wildlife in the Everglades. State wildlife officials unveiled dates for the 2025 Florida Python Challenge, a 10-day competition in which participants capture and remove Burmese pythons from public lands. The state allows for the humane killing of this invasive species throughout the year and live transport of the reptiles has been banned. Florida authorities said the competition plays a crucial role in preserving the state's natural biodiversity and gives residents an active role in environmental protection. That snake is used to this. A wild one would coil on your arm immediately and become a real problem for a non professional

I am am a huge snake fan in general. I will always relocate rattlers, copper heads and even haze off water moccasins. These are all native and leave people alone for the most part (unless you step in one!) For these invasive pythons, a pellet to the head is the kost effective “control” method.

Either this is the most passive wild bermese, or it’s been captive for a while. She didn’t put up a fight at all. Even an exhausted snake will fight for its life if grabbed.

It takes 3 years for these snakes to reach 10ft and that equates to 200 small animals it eats

it takes 1 year to reach 9 feet 2years for 13 and breeding, it will eat as many animals as it can and 200??? where did that number come from. BTW it was nice of them to use a docile pet for the demo. a wild Burmese will not behave for the camera
