@modamensch: Replying to @Emira exactly - is it "bad quality" or are you manhandling your laundry? #sustainablefashion #slowfashion #Sustainability #fastfashionsucks #fashion #fashiontok #fashiontiktok #garmentcare #laundrytok sustainable fashion, garment care tips, laundry
in my experience higher quality clothing is more likely to need to be hand washed. they literally give you the instructions on the tags. these people just dont know how to take care of their shit

I know I manhandle my clothes. I choose my textiles accordingly. It's not sustainable if you don't get the kind of clothes that fit your laundry style

on this note, i CANNOT deal with all the polyester hate too, bc people are uneducated about real traits of quality in clothing. 😫

I mostly give up when my clothes get a hole in them that exposes my underwear or something. Mending skills would probably help, but those holes are so often on a huge denim seam that it’s beyond my reach

what's interesting for me is that clothes from Walmart last me years. Like I had a pair of spider leggings from Walmart my mom bought back in 2020 and it had a couple pin holes from wear. it survived heavy yard work...

I saw someone say that her ysl were bad qaulity. however, they were made sweude, ponyhair, and velvet..... like these items are not quite made for everyday use or need to be cleaned a specific way.....

i knit sweaters. i’ll use nice high quality wool for myself because i’ll take care of it. if it’s for someone else it’s acrylic—washable, dryable, stain resistant, doesn’t shrink or stretch.

ppl with bad quality clothing usually have bad quality lives...bc they treated their back and knees with the same blatant disregard as their clothing. also, why is the issue inherently and primarily someone else? I'm over 30 and I'm still learning how to do laundry. bc laundering is a skill. girl power.

I refuse to coddle my clothing which is why I buy stuff from the thrift store, wait until it literally disintegrates, then cut it up/turn it into something else

Seriously, what do they expect sustainable fashion to be made out of? Tungsten??

I think our society has undervalued knowledge about clothing materials and construction. There is science and art in textiles.

in general I only buy I can realistically get away with washing with everything else except jeans and hoodies, they're separate things but if I really want it then I will hand wash the delicate thing or take it to the cleaners

the only thing I call truly bad quality is when you can tell it wasn't put together with any regard to the materials it was made with. I have bought thing where lace was straight stitched to a streatch fabric. I had to take it apart and reconstruct the garment so it would actually streatch. but I cared about not wasting the garment enough to do so.

this is what I tell people about wigs. single knots look better but require much more care

re:stains are fixable, evidence thereof. I bought a white linen and lace shirt at the thrift shop that someone had turned pink in the wash. after some bleach soaks it's white again and will live several more years.

I’d say it depends or ig it just doesn’t signify it’s quality at all, but fine china complaine it’s too delicate , tired, like I manhandle 98% of my clothing, like my boots I own a pair of cheap primark boots I’ve had for like 5 months worn maybe 3 times and a pair of I can’t remember but there slightly better quality I’ve had for like 3 years worm a few times, both stored incorrectly shoved in boxes but primarks bottom completely came detached and the other are damaged but all gud both my fault rlly but there’s a difference, but I own some cool ass shirts with different materials that need hand washing and no drying or the design an material gonna get fuckef which most people don’t do cause used to just prints on polymer or whatever idk I’m tired

I recently joined your patreon! I love you content and your brand suggestions, I was wondering if you had any brand suggestions for business casual/work wear stuff? I do a fair bit of thrifting but it’s not always easy to find stuff that fits properly so I’d love to hear any suggestions! Tyyyy

People really don't want to or know how to care for their things and it's frustrating!!! They use their ignorance to justify their questionable consumption. I still won't forget the person that broke gold earrings I sold them and threw a fit that they broke (apparently gold is super durable 🙄)

My brother is this way with everything he owns. He blames how its made not the fact that he leaves stuff on the floor or drops it. He does it so someone will get him a "better" one.

I don’t really know if my clothes are “sustainable” in the sense of the branding but most of my shirts are about a decade old and I can’t imagine not taking care of clothes properly, even cheap polyester like mine
