I have 2 sons, I didn’t gentle parent them, BUT I never laid a hand on them, all I had to do was LOOK at them and they KNEW straighten up or ELSE.

We never spanked our kids bc other discipline worked for them but why is it wrong for them to feel “punished”……you lost me with that. Good luck to your child when they get out in the world and they have a boss that doesn’t care about their “big emotions”
