I fell asleep reading the first 40 chapters more than once. I re-read them but still couldn't continue, then picked it up again. After investing around 100 chapters, I thought, *"This might actually be good."* By then, I came across a subtle hint that someone was losing control — probably one of his close teammates. As I read more, many dots from the early chapters, around the time Klein became a Beyonder, started connecting. The eyes in the shadows, the unknown honorific name, and the foreshadowing of a certain three personas in the later volumes — all began to make sense. The interconnectedness of Silver City, the different Pathways of the Fourth Epoch, and the foreshadowing of the greatest events were masterfully done. The plot twist from Chapter 1 to the end of the first volume was brilliant. The whispers played a major role in the latest volumes, and the significance of the Chapter 5 gathering carried through to the most recent events. Even the phrases and quotes from Chapter 5 helped build one of Klein’s personas’ tremendous character development by Volume 3. The ending of Volume 1 alone answered so many questions leading up to the latest volume.

As someone who’s read both, SS has a better introduction and first arc, although it’s fairly close tbh, and overall LOTM is much better written. If you aren’t interested after 50 chapters then I guess it just isn’t for you.

it sounds that your issue is with the way they translated, not really the writing or story. because lotm is a Chinese webnovel originally, and vol 1's biggest problem aside from pacing, would probably be the way it's translated. and I think that if you look at it from the way they write, I understand, but also that it's expected that the translation wouldn't be one of it's best perks. though many don't mind as they have seen lots of stories written to be almost unreadable, so in comparison lotm is better in that aspect. so overall I understand, but its slightly unfair if u r judging the writing so hard, as it's looking at something by relying on the translation.

i kinda agree, first 300 chapters are quite slow, but once you get past them, then you truly realize how important that slow bunch of information really was, I'd say keep reading but whatever it's your choice 💔

You might be going a bit hard but it’s max 60 chapters (could be less it’s been a while) before the more action parts but lord of mysteries chapters are going to be more info dumping which does pad the chapters a lot still better than tbate tho lol

Me too brochacho. Me too. It took me a whole 6 attempts to get past the first 15 chapters. But it gets better when Klein meets Old Niel. After that it's peak. But yeah, some people really need to acknowledge that LOTM isn't perfect in all aspects. So much info was dumped, so many names, so much history, so much detail. That's a good thing, after it's been digested imo.
