The earliest recorded recipe for fried chicken appears in a 1747 cookbook by English author Hannah Glasse, who adapted a Scottish frying technique. Scottish immigrants then brought this tradition to America, where it became popular in the South

Thank you for the history lesson that I never got as a white southern boy who was taught history from books written by daughters of the confederacy. You have taught me so much!

Chickens were also considered to be low profit compared to hogs and cattle so, they gave them to us! We sold the eggs and made some cash! Eating watermelon is a sense of pride not shame! Love your content, sis!! 🥰

Your ancestors are amazing! Their tenacity led to an amazing historian that shares their story, educating others on how things started. What they went through was horrific. Please keep sharing. No, it is not comedy.

As an Appalachian and a student of history I take so much pride in the fact that our traditional dishes, music, and culture all have African roots. It's kept us fed and boosted our morale in the worst of times. Some of us have forgotten where we came from, but not me. Forever grateful. 🫶🏻
