I feel like Jen is genuinely telling the truth about his family telling her this which is why she even said that in the first place. Now that his family is under public scrutiny over it I feel like they’re letting her take the fall for it instead of just admitting they lied. Even if they did tell Jen as a “joke” they clearly didn’t correct her until it made their family look bad. I could be wrong but that’s my opinion lol
