carrier pigeons are extinct. the common rock doves we see now are feral pets that were brought over to make the cities seem prettier.

Humans and our change in perception… Lobsters, Oysters and caviar were considered pest and roaches of the sea until a few hundred years ago, now they are luxury…I will always love pigeons and never forget their past

Strangely enough, when i was a kid i always wondered why people hate pigeons. Sort of a social construct i didn’t understand. They have the same features as a parakeet, why do people not like them?

I was feeding pigeons behind my window. It was beautiful gaining their trust to the point i could hold one and remove strings / clear wounds on their feet. Then i got into beef w my neighbours. I had to stop feeding them and even repell them. Now, they send a pic to my landlord ANYTIME a pigeon sits behind my window. I’m enraged

it's such a sad case, we domesticated them, brought them everywhere and now they're seen as dirty flying rats. it's like we didn't care about dogs anymore and they became street mutts and everyone hated them, kicked them saw them as a nuisance rather than a situation that needed more attention and care
