I was there 23 years and also laid off last week. No loyalty at all. Not even one conversation with management or HR. Just a brief 10 minute video call with 100 other people getting laid off. Questions not allowed

This was most likely part of Microsoft broad scale layoffs from last week. It’s ridiculous to try to position this as a one off targeted layoff on person‘s birthday when we both know, it’s a coincidence.

If he was in engineering for 25 years. This person is likely worth north of 10M dollars. If they aren’t, then they managed their money horribly. People shouldn’t feel for folks in this situation. They will be more than ok.
