You know, the producers that used to work with legendary jazz singer and pianist Urethra Franklin pioneered one of the first methods for lossless mega compression for big, clear sound. Google “Urethra Sounding Technique” for more info on how they set the trend!

it should have stopped in the late 90s, at most. it's especially annoying with heavy music these days. too much compression takes away the umph/weight of the loud/heavy parts

This lead to Full Track Amplification which is widely regarded as a disaster for the industry. It’s abbreviated in the industry as (FUTA) so if you search FUTA sonic inflation there’s lots of articles.

I appreciate music being within a consistent decibel range, but I also appreciate a song that has a variance with their decibel range. it just needs to not be too quiet, and not be too loud. the goal is to not change the volume multiple times throughout a song

This reminds me of that one time I went around telling everyone how there’s a certain way to cut up citrus fruit where you use a sharp knife to cut off all of the peel and the pith and then you cut around the membrane to remove just the inside of each citrus segment and I told people if they wanted to learn how to do it to google the grapefruit technique 😭
