The animal names are derivatives Pelican = pedestrian light controlled crossing; Puffin = pedestrian user friendly intelligent crossing; Toucan = two can (cycles and peds); Pegasus isn’t official it’s known as Equestrian for horse riders (not horseback riders 😉)

My local lollipop lady is right outside a primary school (or elementary in the US) And she would always hand out lollys too the kids and in the Summer she had a little cooler with ice lollys😭🙏 love her so mucuu

the black part of the lollipop ladies sign is so they can write down the registration of any vehicle that goes through the crossing while people are using it ,therefore reporting it to the police later

Our Lollipop men and ladies are part of our childhood as they see you twice a day on school days. They take their jobs seriously as well as being great hoomans.

As someone who has lived in the UK all 25 years of my life I only ever heard zebra and pelican crossing so cool to find out there’s actually more animal named crossings! 😊😂

"Zebra crossing" in Germany it is close, we call it "Zebrastreifen" which literally means "Zebra stripes"

The lollipop lady at my primary school used to give us a different category every day like ‘favourite Pokemon’, ‘favourite colour’ etc & we’d have to think of one before we got to the other side of the road. She also gave us lollipops on the last day of term ❤️
