Yeah it's generally an irrational fear for CS people, like people can get your IP address and potentially what browser you're using etc. It can also be used for phishing but like if you're in CS and you care you'll have a VPN and you can mask whatever you want to mask

why it's always ppl with high degrees but zero real life experience who Talk like that, i wonder seems like schools are working on a fear basis to teach stuff, which isnt nearly as real as they make it seem to be
