So... For everyone who thinks they're the same, here are the differences between them. Muffins: Denser texture with a coarser crumb, can be sweet or savory, often with fruit, nuts, or whole grains, uses a different mixing technique resulting in a lumpy batter and are typically rustic looking with an uneven top. Cupcakes: Lighter fluffier texture with a smoother crumb. Mostly sweeter, with a variety of flavors (chocolate, vanilla, fruity, etc...). Batter has more sugar and fat, with a mixing technique incorporating air for a lighter texture and often has sweet fillings as well as frosting and/or sprinkles for decoration.

It’s mostly the ingredients, cupcakes contain more sugar . And finer flour types . Muffins are less sweet and less buttery and sweetens with nuts and fruits mostly
