USAF used to be the only branch w/o Warrant officers. My first tech school was on an Army post and I convinced 4 Amn that WO’s are saluted with the left hand. Next day 3 of 4 saluted w/ LH. I was called into the office. MTL was mad, but also was cracking up!

I made up an acronym and sent it up on my daily SITREPs to higher daily. Did it for months. Nobody questioned it. 2 rotations later I saw the made up acronym being used by multiple units 😆

when i was in air we used to tell the new guys fresh from basic that we needed to do a duffle bag water integrity test at the front desk within the 1st week of arriving. they had to fill their duffle bags full of water to make sure it didn't leak.

Reminds me of the story of a SgtMaj setting a guard at a shack. Many years later he visited and found a guard still not allowing anyone in that shack. As it turns out he just wanted people to wait for the paint to dry. His subordinate set up a guard rotation and the successor kept up the program of guarding the shack not knowing why. it was just a new shed for the landscaping tools.

this is my headache bc 90% of what we do in the army is completely pointless. when I retire I will tell everyone I was in prison for 20 yrs bc that is easier to explain than what I did in the army.

Told the new guys in p-cola that they had to salute the sky while the Angels were training. I went out a few weeks later and saw at least 30 airmen saluting the sky 😅
