My party has a joke that my character is allowed One (1) 4th wall break per session and I use it for this exact purpose. When NPCs ask wtf I’m saying I have to say “I’m allowed one 4th wall break per session” and they go “oh” and we carry on like nothing happened

We somehow made a funny cleric who worshiped a water god flood a vampire/rat lord out the sewer system by flexing his muscles so hard he used the 8th level spell “Tsunami” WITHOUT MATERIAL COMPONENTS and we beat a villain who was supposed to take multiple sessions into 20 minutes. That guy is forever a legend who is always referenced.
