why? ai: it's totally possible to fix the housing crisis-countries like Ireland have the money, the land, and the know-how. The main reason it doesn't happen is because there's no real political will. Politicians are too tied up with rich investors, homeowners who don't want prices to drop, and a system that treats housing like a business instead of a basic need. So even though affordable housing would be super popular, they just don't go for it.

One in 5 TDs is a landlord, and that's only the figure calculated from those who have properties in their names (is, not including those who register under their partner, family members, etc) Ireland is such a frustrating place to live in. I want to love it and have pride for the country, but it's so hard with this level of corruption

I’m not even being funny but why should the government built houses for anyone to just move in and if it were to be done don’t you reckon the people who owns flats are just going to get them and rent them out and not solve anything

It’s because the government profits off of the lack of housing. Creates demand on their properties to rent

Ireland needs to relax it’s capital gains tax for middle class earners, it should have a stocks and shares ISA like the UK. The difficulty investing in stocks is what drives so many people to buy property as investments and drive up the price.

here in Germany there are enough houses/flats for everyone but the owners and company's keep some empty so the rest of them get more expensive...

They are building houses - in north Dublin, won't help students looking for a place to live. But what is worse is that they build so many houses but 0 schools.

Isn’t it amazing how every ‚civilized western nation‘ has this problem of their peasants… sorry slaves… sorry people can’t afford proper housing while taxes skyrocket and armies have to be upgraded? Just asking…

pov: you never liked the idea of having friends at school, but except for jake, who changed your perception and made you believe that it's okay to let someone in like him. you didn’t interact with everyone at school before because you felt like an outcast. while everyone had their own friends to talk to and spend time with every break time, you engrossed yourself in your book, reading and just minding your own business. it all started when jake transferred into the class. he sat right next to you with a warm smile on his face, the kind of smile that could light up even the gloomiest of days. at first, you were hesitant, glancing at him occasionally, unsure if you should engage. but jake seemed undeterred by your silence. he would often ask about the book you were reading, genuinely interested. “is it good?” he’d ask, leaning closer, his eyes sparkling with curiosity. you found yourself nodding, surprised by how easy it was to talk to him. slowly, your defenses began to crumble. jake’s laughter was infectious, and you started to look forward to school, not just for the lessons but for those moments of connection. during lunch breaks, he would invite you to join him. at first, the thought terrified you. but jake’s encouragement made it easier. “come on, it’ll be fun!” he’d say, and you couldn’t resist the warmth of his enthusiasm. as you began to sit with him, you felt the weight of your isolation lift. the laughter, teasing, and camaraderie were new to you, a stark contrast to the solitude you had grown accustomed to. with each passing day, you found yourself sharing stories, jokes, and even your own quirks. jake had a way of making you feel included—not only that but also knowing how your mood changes so quickly. he knew when there was something wrong, so he would often check up on you. and before long, you realized that you were becoming part of something bigger. because of what jake taught you, you slowly started engaging with other people too. you began forming connections, laughing with classmates, and even participating in groups. your world expanded, but with it came a bittersweet realization: you had less time for jake. lunches became a whirlwind of conversations with others, and after-school hangouts were filled with new faces. one night, as the stars twinkled overhead, jake invited you for a late-night walk. the air was cool and crisp, and the quiet of the night felt comforting. you walked side by side, the silence wrapping around you like a warm blanket, but it wasn’t long before jake broke it. “you barely spend time with me now,” he said, his voice softer than the night air. you looked down, unable to meet his gaze. “i’m sorry, i’ve just been busy with… everything,” you replied, your heart sinking a little. “but i’m happy that you have a lot of friends now,” he added, though the hint of disappointment in his tone was clear. you smiled at his kind remark. he also smiled and looked at you but it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “but it seems like you're forgetting about me now." the way he said it—you could feel the pain behind it. you stopped walking to face him. “jake.” he looked at you, curiosity mingling with a trace of something else—was it jealousy? he looked at you too and you could clearly feel the hidden pain on the smile on his face. “perhaps… are you jealous?” you asked, your voice low. jake’s expression shifted, a mix of surprise and vulnerability. he remained silent for a while, as if he was shy to admit it. “maybe a little,” he admitted, a faint blush creeping up his cheeks. the admission hung in the air, and you felt a rush of warmth. “you know i still care about you, right?” you said, your voice earnest. “i know,” he replied, his smile returning, albeit a bit shyly. “i just miss our time together.” “i miss eating lunch with you, asking you about your books... i miss sharing those moments with you,” (comsec++) #enhypen #enhypenpov #JAKE #jake #SIMJAEYUN #simjaeyun #fyp #FYP #dorotheawrites #booapp
