You can sell them for $20. Buy off Ali baba bulk bug boxes and put one in each one. My mantis came like that. She was a baby but much bigger than that, I named her Britney. I had a huge bug terrarium for her, and 4 months later she got out and literally lived free range around my house. I loved having her out 10x more. I used to let my friends feed her hornworms, everyone loved her. I couldn’t find her for like two weeks until one day she flew off the top of my curtains onto my shoulder 🥹. Evidently she had completed her final molt, so it was time to set her free to become a mama and continue her life cycle. I let her go on a warm June day.. put her into a bush that she blended into perfectly and off she went. I balllllllled my freaking eyes out

why did I expect them to have some sort of larval stage and not pop out just looking like tiny mantises

I'm not sure if these are native to where you live, but if you are ever unsure please do not release them into the wild. It is remarkable how much damage such small invasive insects can cause to the environment

at least they are in a tank? I spent one winter collecting the eggs around the farm and they hatched freely in the whole house

As another comment said — it is your civic duty to ensure that this container remains controlled and you need to alert your local wildlife authority. Even if they’re native — a sudden surge will annihilate downstream species. Think of zebra mussels.

I once made a bouquet of roses from my rose bush. I somehow missed a praying mantis egg sac on one of the branches (I love the thorns and leaves and never remove them). A few days later, my kitchen counter suddenly had baby praying mantises all over it. I spent half the day trying to find and catch all of them to go back outside. I felt so bad 😭😭😭
