no one could ever make me hate verso or his ending. he's such a interesting and complex character who's been through so much he had hope to save everyone in the beginning but over time he knew there was no saving them. Which is why I prefer his ending, it's letting the family move on and putting his soul to rest because realistically there is no saving the canvas in maelles. Everyone's gonna die in the end regardless Maelle included its just putting the family in even more despair. moment maelle dies to the canvas Renoir is destroying it. Aline and Alicia won't be alive to save it anymore and Clea won't care about it.

I think the endings are very similar to persona 5 royals endings. Maelle ending is accepting Maruki’s deal and living in a made up world, Verso is defeating Maruki and facing your grief/past. Verso ending is the best one.

im surprised very little is mentioned about the fact that the painting houses an entire society of conscious humans that feel and experience emotions and pain. that have a culture and existed for hundreds of years. i was a little sad the game hyperfocused on the conflict of the family and not the greater consequences of literally wiping out their universe. my choice for maelle’s ending had little to do with her personal situation and was entirely based on not wanting to destroy these people.

Everyone saying verso’s soul itself said the canvas people are real are conveniently leaving out that verso’s soul was also tired of painting and wished to stop, and that in maelle’s ending verso had to live a life he BEGGED to not live 💀 if you wanna use the facts, use all of them.

one of the best games I've played in years. hands down. I know what the game was trying to tell us, even though I chose Maella's ending, mainly because I didn't want to give up on the people I'd built relationships with during the game. I understand it from a versio perspective, but it's just about those people and the whole family is to blame for it anyway haha. GOTY for sure🤝

i don’t really think there’s a good or bad ending to this game, they’re both equally haunting and heavy and tragic in their own ways. “life keeps forcing cruel choices” and they show us that when they make us decide the fate of the canvas, it’s a cruel choice because no matter what happens to the canvas someone is suffering for it. i do agree with versos motives more than i do maelles though and i think in the grand scheme of things versos ending feels like the more merciful option.

The fact that only a group of 30 and some people made this masterpiece is a chance for the world of games heal again we can see the love and effort that they had when doing this. It’s still early but I think this deserves goty. “For the ones who come after.”

Erasing the painting is bad but so is letting Verso’s soul continue to slave away. Yes they are a real world but most of the ppl had been erased at that point. Even then, Monoco and Esquie (Verso’s creations) accepted erasure bc they knew that was best. I

I knew I made the wrong choice when Verso started begging Maelle, saying he didn't want this life. Even worse at the end when he was playing the piano. He looked so empty, so hollow. I can't believe I did that to him
