So just to confirm, currently everyone in the palace thinks the Moon Prince AKA Jinshi with a mask (who per the anime is currently heir to the throne) is the Emperor’s BROTHER and not his son, right? So when the Emperor has a son by the future Empress, Jinshi as his brother falls down the line of succession…freeing him to be with Maomao. Am I understanding this correctly? Also before you ask, no I really don’t know why my comment is so long. I’ve just been typing continuously and it hasn’t told me I’ve exceeded the character limit so here we are I guess.

I'm so surprised that people question this. It happens all the time in families. My Youngest brother looks almost identical to our grandfather. My own daughter looks so much like my sister.

I don't understand how that's not obvious to the rear palace that Jinshi is Ahduo's child when they have ALMOST THE SAME HAIR COLOUR like they see them in front of eachother and you tell me Maomao is the only only to catch something not adding up ?? The empress dowager doesn't even have purple hair....

There’s also thematic reasons why Jinshi looks like the previous emperor. He is the exact opposite of who is grandfather was. While the former emperor hurt women and girls, it’s Jinshi’s job to protect/manage them. While the former emperor was incompetent, Jinshi was trained to be competent at an early age. They’re using their similarities as a literary device.

also, switch could probably happen more easily because at the time lady adhoa was experiencing difficulties in childbirth and the doctor, Loumen at that time, could not attend to her because he was with Lady Anshi. He was then kicked out and punished because of the drama that happened at that time. so no doctor could verify which baby was whose.
