unpopular opinion, but balanced training has FINALLY made a major impact on my dog’s reactivity. It does not make him scared or fearful or ruin our relationship. he’s actually gaining confidence/learning how to enjoy life now without flipping out over everything & to me that’s worth it🫶🏼

using corrections or aversive methods can create fear and anxiety in dogs, damage the bond between owner and dog, and potentially lead to increased aggression or reactivity

Yes! Tried FF with my pup and she didn’t understand when she was wrong, a couple scruffs (not harsh just grab not hard enough for her to yelp) and stern no have made so much difference. Obviously we do more but she picks up on things so quick!

Can you do some more in depth videos of what corrections look like in your training? I love your account btw!

But what you believe is not what is factually true. Using all 4 quadrants stresses dogs more than only using P or R. And stress inhibits learning. And knowing the disadvantages of P that results in the logical conclusion that we should only use +R for optimal learning and relationship. It also limits you because you never use the full potential of +R.

sure bet lets not stray from the fact you can easily train your dog without them and they arent an absolute necessity, there are lots of different ways to train a dog correctly and effectively

As a dog trainer maybe it would have been a good idea to do some more research before claiming this is the best training method because it’s not

you know you can be a balanced trainer without using harsh aversives as prongs, ecollars chocke chains etc. Not getting a positive reinforcer is negative punishment, so you are already correcting them and showing them right from wrong. and even if you want to also work with positive punishment all you need is yourself, your voice, your body language. and if you want to take a step further a leash correction should be enough. you have so much to work with but you choose the most uncomfortable and the most painfull. I'm glad those are illegal in my country. and still we use balanced training, with no need for tools. that is just an american crazy idea to normalise tool use to this degree which you guys have there.
