@juliambrozy: Replying to @Kimberly 🐾 Here's one exercise to help prevent IVDD in your wiener dog! Just place their front paws on a yoga block during treat time to strengthen those back muscles! 💪 The slight elevation helps shift weight to their back legs, improving spine alignment and building those crucial core muscles that protect their delicate backs. Start with just 30 seconds daily and watch your sausage get stronger. Other recommendations include: walking, figure eights, swimming and preventing jumping off furniture and stairs by using ramps! #dachshundhealth #IVDDprevention #doxiecare #petparentingtips #dachshundtok #spinalhealthfordogs #yogablocks #petfitness #wienerdog #dachshundlove

Nope. The way you prevent IVDD is no stairs and no jumping down from things. Owned sausage dogs my entire life. Had one with IVDD and she was a jumper. No matter what we did. Only one ever.

Honestly I don’t know what to do to prevent my sausage dog from jumping. We carry him on our hands through the stairs, he has dog ramps/stairs and he ALWAYS choose to jump next to it instead :’) I tried to train him but with no effect. I see a lot of videos this type and I’m so scared that he will get it someday…

I’ve heard that going upwards is good for their back. Me and my dachs are always take the dayli walk in the forrest. So I think that’s the best for their back 😊

I’m going through this hellish disease rn wi my baby. I have had may doxies throughout my life and have never had back issues. I feel so small because there is very little I can do to help my baby. It hurts your heart to watch.

My dog needed surgery, but we couldn’t afford it, so with physio 3 times a day, 2 times a week aqua therapy, for months, and we got her walking again. So don’t give up if it happens to your dog.

It would be Good idea for them to have a food station that’s on a step. So they can stretch daily.

This is so interesting! I had a vet tell me that dachshunds who have longer front legs than hind legs have a lower rate of IVDD and I wonder if this is why?

My dachshund wants to jump off everything he can but I never let him! He’s has suffered from IVDD once and thank God he didn’t need surgery and healed from staying in his cage. 🙏🏼 I’ll have to try this out!
