He’s right in that if you’re treated similarly like an employee, you’re an employee if you want to fight for it. A good HR dept doesn’t allow contractors to attend employee meetings.

And nobody ever distinguishes that you can be a contracted employee, which is refered to as being “a contractor”, which is wholly different than being a 1099 contractor
