It's just inspired by anime, it's NOT a live adaptation. They don't have to copy everything what's on anime cause anime is anime. It is colorful and unrealistic while the American version series is into realistic human details so you wouldn't expect them to make a whole white mask that looks like Jabawockeez and let riri wear it for the entire show cause people nowadays literally wear facemask to disguise themselves and I think that's the point.
