as a makeup artist, i was always skilled at hiding my acne. after 10 years, thousands of dollars on products and treatments that weren't right for me, and so any missed opportunities because of the shame I felt around my skin, I finally got clear. Here's how I did it: 1. Switching my pillowcase every other day. 2. Washing my face right after sweating or working out. 3. Removed all comedogenic ingredients from my makeup and skincare routine. This one was definitely the hardest. I had to give up a lot of products I loved but l've found new products to love that don't harm my skin and I share them here in my reels 4. Healed my skin barrier! I removed almost all exfoliants (temporarily) and focused on healing my skin barrier from years of over exfoliation. An acne specialist helped me find a great balancing regimen during this time because I was so scared of not exfoliating enough and my skin getting worse. I learned so much and I still use some of those products today. 4. Started doing zero downtime peels bi weekly once my skin cleared to help remove any remaining acne waiting to surface and lighten PIE/PIH. We are now offering these peels at @selfwellbeauty so you can customize your lymphatic facial with us. 5. High frequency & LED therapy !! I use these to oxygenate the skin which fights bacterial growth and the LED to also target bacteria while also reducing inflammation. 6.* adding an asterisk because this one is personal and while it didn't completely solve my acne initially, I saw a huge improvement when I went vegan and cut out gluten. Gluten and dairy were big triggers for my inflammation and acne is inflammation of a diseased follicle. Less inflammation = less acne. Adult acne is hard. I still get a random breakout here and there. There's no one size fits all but the above suggestions will help all acne to improve. To get fully clear, stay away from TikTok skin trends & influencer
