Some mornings, I wake up feeling… something. Not anger, not joy, just something. And if I’m not careful, if I don’t take the time to pause and ask my body what it’s holding, that something can turn into blame, accusation, or self-loathing. So I did the work. I cut my hair. I meditated. I listened to my body. And I realized I was just… sad. So we went hiking. Living with CPTSD means showing up for myself like this, again and again. Learning to name what I’m feeling so I can hold it gently, instead of letting it spill out in ways that hurt me or the people I love. If you’re doing this work too, if you’re pausing, if you’re listening, if you’re showing up for yourself even when it’s hard, keep going. It’s worth it. It’s taken me years to even realize that my body exists, that it communicates feelings, and that the tight stomach and clenched jaw were all signals, a map leading me to understand my emotions. It wasn’t until I had been meditating consistently for five years that the concept of having a body versus just living in my head became real to me. So if someone asks me, “What’s one way to tap into your body?” I don’t know the answer for you. But for me, it started with meditation, stilling my mind long enough to notice the sensations in my body. Or dancing, which, again, stills the mind just enough to let you feel. If you’re curious, start with a simple search: “How do I get more in touch with my body?” Sometimes, the smallest curiosity is the first step. What’s one way you check in with your body when something feels off? Share below, I’d love to hear. #CPTSDRecovery #MentalHealthJourney #SelfAwareness #HealingTrauma #MindfulLiving #EmotionalWellness #SelfCompassion #TraumaHealing #BodyMindConnection #HealingJourney
