Habeas corpus (Latin for “you shall have the body”) is a legal principle that protects people from being held in jail or prison without being formally charged or given a fair chance to challenge their detention. In simple terms: It means you have the right to appear before a judge if you’re being held by the government, so the court can decide if your imprisonment is lawful. Example: If someone is arrested and held without being told why, or without going to trial, they (or someone on their behalf) can file a writ of habeas corpus. The court then requires the authorities to justify the detention. If they can’t, the person must be released. Why it matters: It’s a fundamental protection in many democratic countries, including the U.S., to prevent unlawful imprisonment and government abuse of power.

congress has gone Hollywood tell the truth Senator!!! Constitutional Protection: The U.S. Constitution, in Article I, Section 9, states that the writ of habeas corpus "shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it". This clause ensures that the government cannot arbitrarily suspend the right, except in extraordinary circumstances.
