That's exactly why data analysis is NOT DONE WITH EXCEL. Use software that is actually made for the usecase.

Or, you know, Microsoft could make it easy and obvious how to disable the feature. There are no user errors - there is only bad UI design...

You have to understand that Excel is a new software from a very recent born software company (irony)

Ok just so people know: excel corrects data even if you do all configuration right. Excel has mistakes in its configuration and import functions.

the actual analysis is done in software like R or Python, the errors come when exporting tables to excel. Still a prob but not impacting the actual research- source is me doing a giant transcriptomics project in my PhD lmao

Part of having AI doing everything for you and instead of you is that it overrules and automatically "corrects" what you said into what it thinks you should be saying based on what everyone else types.
People NEVER learn the lesson that laziness doesn't pay off. It creates just as many extra mistakes and extra steps as it "saves". 🙄
I beg everyone to turn that AI assistance shit all the way off and prove you have a brain that can't be replaced by a chipset that works for free (or you will be).

i don't think you can blame excel for this one, why are so many researchers using software they don't understand and not checking the output? it seems like a culture problem in genetics research to me
