This is a great suggestion! My child is supremely uninterested in following set rules and likes to just make up stories and turn the games into imaginative play with a loose structure. They’re four now but it’s been this way since they were around two. Do you have any suggestions how I can help my child see the fun in the sticking to the rules? Especially without discouraging their active imagination. Thanks!

My son will not play by the rules and he’s 4, how do I get past that? I will follow the rules hoping he’ll catch on and he just does everything for me instead getting mad if I talk about how to play or correct him

My kids are older (5 and 9) but we’ve been playing board games for years. They always have better behavior when we prioritize game nights. It’s truly a win win for everyone — better moods and everyone has fun!

I find that games of pure luck are quite difficult with young kids. making the game accessible, but something that you can learn and get better at, is key.
