@mdfunfam: Plumpton Park Zoo 📍1416 Telegraph Rd Rising Sun, Maryland 💰Adult (ages 13+) - $19.95 Child (ages 2-12) - $14.95 Senior (ages 65+) -$17.95 Children under the age of two are free! 🦒 Giraffe feedings are offered daily! $5 per person physically feeding the giraffe ( website says $6 but we went this past weekend and it was $5 cash at the feeding) 💎 Gem mining is available for additional cost and price varies on bag options. This is located near the exit and can be purchased at the gift shop. ⏰ Open Daily Summer hours… 9am to 6pm Plumpton Park offers the perfect blend of big zoo animals and small zoo comfort. You can see animals like Annabelle & Kazar the Giraffes, Louie the Black Bear, and Zoe the Zebra along with Alexis and Miracle the Siberian Tigers in a very close and intimate setting. ( don’t worry not too close). 🌭There is a shaded picnic area and snack bar. 👚They have a gift shop with souvenirs and the best part is you don’t have to physically walk through it to enter or exit the zoo! 🐐Visitors to the zoo can also purchase petting zoo food and hand-feed some of the zoo’s friendly animals. ❤️The Plumpton Park Zoo is operated for the purpose of exhibiting animals to the public for education and conservation, while at the same time providing a home for exotic animals that are in need of homes. Plumpton Park zoo is home to over 180 animals. Half of which have been taking in from owners that could no longer keep them. They will only take an animal in if they can improve its situation. Once an animal is taken in the zoo gives them their forever home. They will get expert veterinary care, along with dedicated professional Zookeepers taking care of them each and every day. All animals are provided with what is called environmental enrichment. That is a program that alters each animal’s environment to stimulate natural behaviors.
I’ve lived in Maryland my WHOLE LIFE and have never heard of this place!! I need to come visit ASAP!!

when we went to this zoo it was really bad.. all animals look sad and pacing around.. Baltimore zoo and DC zoo animals don't act like that..
makes you think what they do to them.. animals aren't happy there that's for sure..

The animal cages are TINY. Also the tiger/Lion spot looks so sus, an angry animal could for sure escape. Theres also chickens and roosters everywhere and they will chase a toddler. 2/10

This was by far the saddest zoo I’ve ever visited. All the animals were sleeping as if on tranquilizers and it was very quiet! Not one roar from the lions and the giraffe is 100% alone. Sickening!

if they were exhibiting animals for conservation and education you would think they would get AZA certified. instead, they are only monitored by the USDA which does not have the capacity to do as thorough investigations as the AZA. being AZA certified would also help gain funding by proving that they’re dedicated to the animals and yet they don’t have it.

they also feed almost all the carnivorous animals something that looks quite similar to dog food with only a few fruits/veggies thrown in. when i was there last the bear was being fed and he slowly picked out all the carrots from his pile of kibble and didn't touch the rest

This place is heartbreaking for the animals, it's a glorified roadside attraction. Brandywine Zoo or Baltimore Zoo are much better, educational alternatives that care for their animals

one of the worst zoos around. live right down the road and it is a shame how these animals are taken care of.

I never knew this was here. It was amazing. It wasn’t really crowed and we were able to see all the animals and feed most of them. It was very reasonably priced.
