He spotted a 2020 Toyota Corolla stuck in woods east of Hickory Lane. Later, they learned the driver had sped east on Hickory Lane, blew through a stop sign, and crashed into the trees. Officers approached the driver, 19-year-old Nadia. Two young kids rode as passengers in the car. Nadia said she just kept going straight as told, right into the woods. Signs of impairment stood out. Officers asked her to do field sobriety tests. Patrolman Sicknick began with the Walk and Turn. Nadia missed heel-to-toe steps. She turned wrong. Her arms waved for balance. Next came One Leg Stand. She failed to lift her foot right and dropped it too soon. They had her say the alphabet from A to Z, no singing. She messed it up. Another officer did the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. The crash and failed tests led Patrolman Sicknick to arrest Nadia for driving under the influence. They impounded her car for 12 hours under John's Law. He took her to Berkeley Township Police headquarters. There, officers read her the standard statement for drivers. She agreed to breath tests. The Alcotest showed 0.19% BAC—over twice the 0.08% limit, and 19 times the 0.01% limit for under-21 drivers. They took her photo and prints. Then, due to odd comments she made, they sent her to Community Medical Center in Toms River for a check. Patrolman Sicknick gave her these tickets: operating under influence, reckless driving, careless driving, ignoring a stop sign. She faced criminal charges too—two counts of child endangerment under 2C:24-7.1A(2) since the passengers were minors. On January 3, 2024, a court found Nadia guilty of DUI. She served 12 hours at an intoxicated driver center, got a nine-month ignition interlock, and paid $690 in fines. The other tickets got dropped in a plea deal. Records show an earlier DWI arrest by State Police in Middletown Township on January 13, 2023. Before that, another DWI in Barnegat Township on December 2, 2022. After this case, Stafford Township charged her with shoplifting under 2C:20-11B(1) on January 31, 2024.
