@trevorcarroll_: I often get comments or messages from parents of autistic children asking if they should disclose the diagnosis to their child. While I can’t speak for everyone or all autistic people, I do believe we deserve to know how our brain works—and as early as possible. I went through my childhood and teenage years always feeling different but never knowing why. That led to a lot of shame and frustration with myself. Receiving my autism diagnosis at 23 not only helped me understand myself better, but also gave me the tools I needed to go from just surviving to actually thriving in my life. ##autistic #autism #MentalHealth #healing #latediagnosedautistic #neurodivergent
Was diagnosed this year at 24 and it was such an eye opener for me and I finally realized that I don't suck at social communication I just communicate differently

My son was diagnosed at 11 and I just feel so guilty that he struggled for that long! How did I not see it and help him earlier!

Diagnosed at 30, high masking for all my life. I don't think most of autistic people (maybe non masking ones) are diagnosed in their childhood, at least in my country. France has a serious lag about this.. Because I was a girl + masking without even realising it so everyone thought I just was...dreamy. 🥲
Love your videos, it helps me for sure ! 🍀

Undiagnosed until 31. The most challenging thing for me is neurological workplace environment. I can't handle most of the things others can. I'm seen as weak and lazy which makes me push harder into autistic burnout...

My biggest loss is my childhood.. not knowing why I was different or had severe issues and masking my whole life was traumatizing..

Most men/boys are diagnosed as children. Women and high masking individuals are diagnosed later in life statistically speaking.

My parents try to diagnose me when I was 2 years old or even younger. Got my diagnosis as a 20 years old it made my entire family understand that “missing” part of why I’m different and also for my self understanding

non verbal until 7, diagnosed early with asd. 29yo now and now realizing again after 2 years of autism burnout what my needs are and how to truly live with myself. All these tiktok video's really helped me understand autism again and understand myself again. After school all support stops, high functioning autistics get thrown out in this world not made for them. high masking, putting 200% energy in life to reach the goals society wants us to. Doing pretty well, exhausted, realises masking, as you getting older realising you are not as neurotypical people and fall more and more behind as years pass. asd burnout, learning again, finding your true self, starting a new life. I'm head technician and technical specialists, doing pretty good again. but anyone now knows about my Autism, my extra needs and i get some extra days off to regulate. live is ok now, but still alone and little depressed
