And sometimes, it’s not even just a want—it’s something we’ve been praying for, crying out to God for, desperate for Him to come through. And yet, it feels like nothing changes. It’s hard to understand why. Why does God seem silent when we need Him most? Why do some people go through so much heartbreak, so much pain, sickness, loss—over and over again? It doesn’t make sense, and if I’m being honest, it’s hard to find peace in the middle of that. But then I’m reminded of something in Psalm 23: “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” That doesn’t mean life will be perfect. It doesn’t mean we’ll get everything we ask for. It means God won’t let us go without what we truly need. Even when we don’t see it right away, even when it hurts—He is still providing, still holding us together. I ask “why” a lot. Why so much suffering? Why loss that feels unbearable? But the truth is, it’s not because God has forgotten us. Psalm 25:15 says, “My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only He will release my feet from the snare.” He sees us. He knows when we’re caught, when we’re struggling, when we’re barely holding on. And He’s the one who lifts us out—every time. God is my refuge. Even when I run, even when I don’t understand, He doesn’t let go.
