Then you get cruise ships coming in with a gastrointestinal illness onboard (just this week 21.05.25) but they freely allow passengers to come ashore without alerting the port authority, which could impact local businesses and health services if it spreads.

the cafes and shops and other luxuries we have in Shetland, wouldn't be here if we didn't have tourists from the ships. the winter months are dire for some business to stay open...

So just Shetland and not Orkney too? Don’t need to tax it because it’s giving loads of jobs to people in the tourism industry in both Orkney and Shetland, only the government want to ruin that too

It is always a giant relief when Cruise season finishes. Roads cluttered with cycling tours from the boats…….Fishing boats lose access to Mairs pier.

There also needs to be one for them visiting other ways. The ferry up is booked for months solid and locals can’t use the lifeline because it’s full of tourists.

Passengers on an all inclusive cruise are only out for a walk, not spending loads of cash. Should be taxed imho.
