Yeah, it’s true that Nizami Ganjavi wrote Layla and Majnun as a Persian poem and made it super famous, but the story itself is actually Arab. It goes way back to Qays and Layla a real love story from the Umayyad era. Qays was this Arab poet who everyone called “Majnun Layla” ’cause he went crazy in love with her. So yeah, Nizami didn’t create the story, he just told it in his own poetic and Sufi style. The original love came straight outta the Arabian desert 🙏
