The stuff the that’s painted is most likely lesser wood and couldn’t be sanded down and finished like the original stuff. Do not paint the wood.

Why White?! as a professional home cleaner, I believe you shouldn't know that this two things about both finish... White is a lot easier to clean... Brown or would trims require a little bit more care. Such a liquid gold for shine... Both are beautiful...
