Philae Temple in Egypt , located in Aswan, Egypt, was originally built on Philae Island in the Nile River south of Aswan. It is dedicated to the goddess of love Isis and famous for its stone carvings and mythological stories on stone wall reliefs. It is the place where ancient Egyptian religion has been preserved for the longest time. At the end of the 19th century, after the construction of the old Aswan Dam to store water, the original site of Philae Temple was partially submerged. Half a century later, the construction of the new dam completely submerged Philae Island. With the assistance of UNESCO, the temple was cut into more than 45,000 stones and more than 100 stone columns and moved to the nearby Agilkiya Island. After that, the Philae Temple was rebuilt as it was, and the original state of Philae Island was restored as much as possible. The Philae Temple has a beautiful nickname - "The Pearl of Egypt". It is dedicated to the most famous goddess in Egypt, Isis. Among the many ancient temples in Egypt, the Philae Temple is famous for its brilliant and unique architecture, magnificent and vivid stone carvings and mythological stories. How to reach; You can travel by taxi from Aswan to the Philae Temple Marina, then take a short boat ride to Agilkia Island (boat fares are negotiated with local boatmen). Visiting Hrs;The site is open daily from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Entry tickets cost 550 EGP (≈ US $8.90) for adults and 275 EGP (≈ US $7.50) for students. In the evenings, a sound-and-light show brings ancient myths to life through lights and narration. In 1979, Philae Temple was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the “Nubian Monuments” along with Abu Simbel and other sites.
