I can relate, my granny had a stroke 2013 December and she couldn’t eat by mouth but she was fed through a pegtube till 2018 when she passed away. I used to take care of her, bath, fed and change her. It wasn’t easy and I took care of her with love and dedication, since I was alone and studying. I took her to a Carehome and her social grant money helped a lot with adult nappies and minor things. The hospital helped me a lot by referring her to a Carehome even if I wasn’t ready to let her go but I had to and they took good care of her being fed direct through her stomach. There are great Carehome out there. Thank you Jess for sharing 🥰

My mum said she didn’t want to go in a care home whatever happens so she didn’t and for eight years i carried her as she carried me when I was a child.

The decision was taken out of our hands, it was social workers that made the decision dad was a danger to himself and had to go into a care home, i take him out every week to see my mom and to have dinner together just so he has some normality

such good information . As a Social Worker and Team Manager we would be very involved in supporting people with this decision . There are other options ie live in care for those really not suited to care home .

We didn’t have a choice with my Nan adult social and the drs at the hospital had a meeting and decided it was best for my Nan to go into a home and honestly it was the best for her xx

We had to with my mum and she was happier there and looked after 24/7 the care she needed we got to keep my mum a year longer because she had the care she needed ❤️

is was my gran own house. and my dad had to sale the house. to put my gran in a care home and that was very very hard
