I’m 51 and I hate the double space. It is not necessary anymore. Those times are over! But if it makes you happy 🤷🏼♀️

Two after a period, one after a comma. We all took that typing class in High School in the 80s. 😂🥰

I’m 25 and didn’t find out until last year that we aren’t supposed to do that anymore. I have a full on masters degree and used them in my dissertation and no one told me.

As a traditionally trained graphic designer/typographer double spaces create unsightly “rivers” of space in a block of printed typeset columns of galleys and are thoroughly unnecessary.

A couple of people in the comments mentioned why two spaces was once the norm. Typewriters made it difficult to see one space, so two were needed.

I loathe "next generation's grammar" & their run on sentences..!!
Their "could of," instead of the correct, "could've." Which is "could have."
🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️

As it should be. Typing class, 1980's. 167 words a minute on a manual typewriter. Miss those days.

The world is going to pot. First no cursive then they accept only one space after a period. This is just too much!!!😫

Who do people even think they are thinking that they can just change a rule like that? Sorry, Charlie. Two spaces after a period. Period.

You must change with the times. Word processors have fixed this.

100% right on! Also, I will never put a zero before the decimal point of a proper fraction (.75 is good enough), and Pluto is always gonna be A PLANET!

Pretty sure this was a typewriter related rule. You can do it all you want, there’s just no point in it for typing purposes to be taught like that anymore.
