The job of the kitchen staff is to simply get orders out as they come in. Why would it matter if it’s an employee order or a customer order? If that throws your productivity off then you aren’t fit to run a kitchen.

Tell me you're bad at your job without telling me you're bad at your job. I have 30 years in the restaurant industry at some of the nicest country clubs in Arizona some of the most qualified sports bars and this man doesn't know what he's talking about. Seriously doubt his owner will see at the same way.

Stop letting the cooks eat while they are working and make them order their free meal at the end of their shift. I’ve worked in both environments. No free fries for anyone!!
