I allow my daughter too. I don’t want her to grow up, thinking that her mental health is not important.

I’m a single mom and I have one that has profound autism, at the end of the year I plan on allowing his younger brother to take a day off to have a fun day with one on one time.

Mental health days (up to 5) are excused absences in California public schools as of 2021. 🎉

I have never worked anywhere that gave out perfect attendance awards. Schools need to give that shit up.

I let my kids take off when they need to and as they get older, they use it wisely! My 15 year old made perfect attendance all year so that he could take a trip to Florida with his best friend’s family this month. I was so proud of him!

Chicago Public Schools give 5 mental health days a school year. And we use them all.

I do this. When my oldest just isn’t with it, she gets to stay home, and I excuse her.

Girl, I do. Idc what that school says. That child was cut from my body. If he needs a day off, he gets it.

I was taught to only take days off from school when I was vomiting, fever, migraine, or infectious. I also couldn’t do anything fun for the days off. I struggled for years to use PTO. At one time I had 210 hours of PTO. Now as a contractor, I have 8 hours total. I took one day off for a procedure. But guilt of missing work.

My husband and I want to randomly once a year pick our kids up from school midday on like a Wednesday and take an extended weekend getaway!

We did!! As long as our grades were up and it wasn’t a test day, we could have a mental health day. I used them to volunteer at my mom’s school for scholarship enhancements, video game/book releases, etc. As a mom, I’ve taken my kids to the zoo, one-on-one time with me, etc.
