@asianaotearoanproject: Only when we acknowledge our history can we move on from it. No one needs to feel bad or guilty for historical wrongdoing, but it is important for everyone to know about our true history — the deliberate creation of our white national identity — so that we can actually undo this and create a truly inclusive society. #aotearoa
NZs racism runs deep unfortunately. It still continues today... our government is proof.

Why don't you post something on Peter Fraser, ex PM of NZ who looked after the Chinese Migrants and is buried in Karori Cemetery in Wellington next to the Chinese Grave site where my Gand Parents are buried. He was highly respected by the Chinese Community. Instead of all the anti colonialism/ white rhetoric. Thank you.

I once told someone that I wouldn't vote for Winnie cos he's against immigration. they said that they liked that. I reminded them I'm an immigrant. they said they didn't mean me. 👀

As a white skin Maori I got to see racism in my local Rugby club. As soon as the bros went outside or just left the table it would come out.

There isn't enough recognition of how the Asian community helped to build this country, in particular the Chinese. I grew up in Dunedin, where there is a sizable NZ born Chinese community dating back to the gold rush. They are New Zealanders just as much as me

I'm so concerned with the lies being fed to immigrants about Māori and Te Tiriti by the right I've seen so many on here being racist and derogatory towards Tangata whenua. how do we counter this in our communities?

Great information. Asians are beautiful people. Far too long have they divided cultural people to keep control for their benefit. Thank you and you are awesome.

im sure if any of your people were in power back then some of the things they'd say would sound outrageous by today's standards too.

To be clear, racism runs deep in most societies and has for thousands of years. Humanity has had fear based segregation forever and it's not right. But we are part of the animal world and that behavior is part of that. So how do we live without fear?

At that time, I understood why we needed to control immigration.. like all countries at that time it was a transitional.period in history. No racism. I am Chinese and my grandparents were in NZ in 1890...the past is the past, but thank you for your posting
