My husband Ryan’s accident happened in October 2021. He died in April 2022 from an anoxic brain injury he couldn’t recover from. That was six long months of compounding trauma, helplessness, and anticipatory grief. By the time I watched him take his last breath, my nervous system was so fried I could barely feel anything. I wanted to cry—but I couldn’t. I wanted to feel joy with my kids—but I couldn’t. I even wanted to feel pain—still nothing. My body and mind shut down to protect me from what felt like unbearable pain. I became a shell of myself, going through the motions of a life I felt completely disconnected from. Grief had numbed me. And I had to learn how to feel alive again. One of the things that helped was music. Music that cracked me open, even if it brought rage or total heartbreak. Letting myself feel it all—even the ugliest, rawest emotions—was a massive turning point in my grief. I had to teach my body it was safe to feel again. That’s how healing started. Not by avoiding the pain, but by facing it and letting it move through me. What was the “crash out” song that helped you feel something again? Drop it below—or DM me if you’re ready to reconnect with yourself again, too. . . 💌 DM “Retreat” for my widow’s retreat 💌 DM “Support” for 1:1 grief support 💌 DM “Carried” to preorder my 2nd book 💌 DM “Running” for my book 💌 DM “Light” for my self-guided grief course 💌 DM “Email” to join my list . . #grievingprocess #griefcoach #griefjourney #youngwidow #youngwidows #widowedandyoung #widow #widows #widowhood #widowlife #widowed #widowedmom #anaphylaxis #anaphylacticshock #anoxia #anoxicbraininjury #anoxic #death #griefandloss #deathanddying . . .
