The biggest EMDR myth I hear all the time 👇 ❌ “EMDR erases your memories.” ✅ Nope — it helps your brain reprocess them so they don’t feel so intense. Here’s what EMDR actually does: ✨ Uses bilateral stimulation (eye movements, taps, or tones) to help your brain process stuck memories. 🧠 Lowers the emotional charge and builds new, healthier associations. 💪 Keeps you present and in control — you don’t have to share every detail to heal. What it feels like: We start by grounding and resourcing. Then you briefly notice a target memory while doing short sets of BLS (eye movements, taps, or tones). We pause, check in, and move only at your pace. Who it can help: PTSD, anxiety, grief, phobias, painful memories, and even performance blocks.
