I 1000% believe that Whitney was promised her redemption arc and in turn, production went into season 2 with the full intention of making Jen the "new villian" because of the shock factor. Hence all the little plants like Leyla's comment in the truth box, the chippendale performance at the Halloween party, etc. But then as the season progressed Demi naturally just started to dig her own grave and became the more natural villain by the end.

i know on other shows, like the challenge, they have the cast wear the same outfit repeatedly despite all the confessionals not being filmed on the same day. makes it easier for them to remember stuff but to also use clips out of context.
