they buried their authentic self at some point in childhood and from there on established an alter ego. But ny burying the authentic self, they cut off from the source of life itself. that’s why they need the supply from others, ideally empaths. ( energy vampires because they can’t produce it for themselves. because only in reality does energy flow) it is very spiritual, too…

My narcissistic ex brought out the worst in me—he sucked all my confidence, made me question my worth and sanity, and basically drained my energy. When we’re in public, he acts like everyone is watching him, and whenever girls look at him, he always assumes they like him. It makes me cringe 😭

As an autistic daughter, growing up with a covert narcissistic mother, this makes total sense to me. People mean nothing to her, it's her image in her mind that matters and now, at 85, she barely knows what is real and what she dreams up in her image world.
