you don't have to buy a harley. to start. a Honda shadow or kawasaki Vulcan or equivalent are great mid sized starter bikes that don't break the bank. stay away from sportsters

Don’t get to technical about your first bike. Buy one used for cash and get to know the bike. Trade around till you find what you like and then get the best version of that you can.

I would recommend starting out on a used motorcycle because you’re gonna drop it most likely that’s not saying you’re not gonna drop a new one and get comfortable on a like a Honda rebel or a Yamaha or Suzuki equivalent or a small sports bike get used to it and then upgradeto the bike that fit your riding style and needs special for brand new beginners

Don’t listen to the salesman. Talk to a few you trust. Bikers want to see everyone have fun not just about the nicest expensive or fastest bike. And when you get one, no matter what, “ride your ride”.

dont care about the cc. if you can sit on it and move it around you will learn throttle control anyways.

Ride them all! At all the dealerships… HD, Indian, BMW, Honda, etc. they ALL ride differently! You will always have haters so just be comfy with you and your bike selection. Eff the rest!
