Dorsiflexion is the motion that lifts the front of your foot and moves your knee forward. If this movement is limited, your body cannot absorb impact properly and that pressure gets pushed into your knees, hips, or lower back. Try this: sit on the edge of a chair with a block between your knees. Squeeze it 60 times to activate your inner hips. Then keep 20 percent pressure on the block while you lower your heel and lift your foot in a slow rocking motion. Do this for one to two minutes.
